Earth Day 2012

Details: Denton County is sponsoring the Household Hazardous Waste Event which is being provided by Upper Trinity Regional Water District. You must have a voucher to participate in the Hazardous Waste Disposal Event. A limited number of vouchers are available at the Denton County Public Works facility located at 1505 E. McKinney Street Suite 175 Denton, TX. 76209. Please do not take any HHW materials to the Public Works Facility. Common Household Hazardous Waste materials include but are not limited to: pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, fungicide, gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, paint, and aerosol cans. Items not accepted: Ammunition, explosives, propane/butane cylinders, medical waste, radioactive material, tires, business waste and electronics. For other HHW materials accepted or questions regarding vouchers call the Denton County Public Works Department at (940) 349-3250.
Trees will be given away to the first 100 residents compliments of Gold Landscape.
EP Rayzor representatives will be on hand collecting magazines and newspapers. Liberty Christian will display their solar car, and a fire truck will be on hand for the kiddos. CoServ will have a booth and they will have their arcing demonstration at the event.
Waste Management staff will be onsite handing out educational and promotional information.
A document shredder company will be onsite to shred documents. They will charge $10.00 for the first box and $5.00 for each additional box.
An electronics recycling company will be onsite. A $20.00 fee to accept TV’s will be required. However, other electronics will be recycled for no charge.
Spring Cleanup Event: Participation is limited to Lantana residents only, due to limited space in the roll off dumpster. Clean out those closets, garages and attics. Only landfill appropriate materials will be accepted. No HHW materials, tires, batteries, medical waste, refrigeration equipment*, pesticides, petroleum products, antifreeze etc. can be placed within the roll off dumpster.
*Refrigeration equipment may be discarded if accompanied with a certificate of Freon evacuation.
